An update of sorts

I haven't been posting recently as I've been busy with Life.

I have been applying for work, so it's been a mad rush of interviews, assignments and recruitment tests to complete.

On top of admin work for some Facebook groups, I'm involved with...

Volunteering at a local theatre and shop.

Oh and trying to brainstorm a Fan Fic story for Castle. I've been watching since the Pilot was released, most recently it's now the Winter Hiatus for 2013, next episodes are next year!

Season 6, episode 10 is where we're up to. My Fan Fic is related to that...

Will see how this goes.

I've been on twitter talking to other fans about my fan fic idea, so now need to see if anyone else has got one...

Eva's Attic

Eva's Attic the great little used clothing, premium clothing store where I've been volunteering closed down after the July/ August quakes, the building we were in just wasn't safe enough..

Last night I received a great email - from the women who run the charity, to say...

WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS!!

We're reopening in a new store.

New address and opening details:

The Grand Arcade, level 1, (that's on Willis Street).
Re-opening on Monday December 2nd!

So, here's hoping I'll be around browsing and helping out a bunch more... which means less FB. (Might not be a bad thing, in recent light.)

I'm not afraid to speak my mind

I'm not afraid to speak my mind and if that makes me a bully. I don't care.

A whirlwind and a special guest request

Today started out like any other weekday: Dan leaving at some crazy hour for work. Waking me up and then leaving me in bed.
Haha.

Room for Rent

So our flatmate is leaving us next year at the end of the tenancy, and we've started the new flatmate hunt...

Spring has sprung but where's the warm weather?

Tonight's blog is going to be more thoughts about life and things I've seen online today...

Just a tad more Fame.

So yesterday my Child Free story was shared on the We're Not Having A Baby site.
Pretty exciting.

I was dancing around the house when Lance and Amy emailed me to say it was being published.

Well today...

Dan is famous, his story, never before being seen: has also been published!

Here is his story as Part Two of the CF Story from the Kiwi's.... Excitement!

Just a dream

She slipped her hand into his. Quietly, no - wordlessly she lead him to the edge of the bush. She beckoned with her other hand, as if to say shhh, come see.
He followed her as she pulled him along.
Into the trees. The trees so high. So filled with green they overtook his world. He closed his bright grey eyes and breathed in deeply. The forest smelled like christmas. Filled with hope, a longing.
Again she tugged on his hand, hurrying him. He opened his eyes, smiling at her. They walked towards a clearing. The trees opening to reveal a bright, tingling sky with an opening in the trees... He saw there was a hammock  hanging between the branches of the largest trees he had ever placed his eyes on.

How do you write when you have nothing to talk about?

I've been reading quite a bit online the past 48 hours about writing and blogging. Thinking about how to do this as a career, or at least as a sub-career to my teaching.

I've come across some interesting things, like:
http://thewritepractice.com/feel-like-it/

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/writing-a-good-blog.html

http://lifehacker.com/how-can-i-write-a-successful-blog-and-get-more-people-t-1257476541

I realised I need to write more often, even with shorter posts. Because shorter posts more often is better than less posts of more substance, surely?

Tuesday 5 November 2013

5th November.

And just like that unemployed once more.
Went in to see my boss on Friday and he said there's no work for me, along with 13 others.

Back to the drawing board.

Today, in an attempt to relax.... I had a "Spa Day" at home.

before: damp hair...

Egg and oil for my hair mask. (I used regular cooking oil). Higher quality oil is better.
This is 3 eggs beaten into 1/4 cup of oil

Applied the egg + oil mask. Leaving it on for about an hour.

Face mask on: being goofy!

Freeman's brand. Available at Farmers and chemists.

Making funny faces when I was realising that I can't move my face as the mask dries!

1/2 washed off, see there's a human under there: somewhere!

Hair rinsed and drying, and mask is all off.

After the masks and relaxing so much, I decided to make myself a good ol' cup of tea, so I thought I may as well try out my new glass tea pot and new Fortune Flower tea from "t Leaf T':

http://www.tleaft.co.nz/fortune-flower-blooming-tea.html

It starts out like a hard ball thing. You rinse it under water, then pop it into a boiling hot water filled tea pot.
More fun to do it in a glass one so you can watch it do it's magic!

The flower...

It's a thing of beauty!

And it tastes delicious. You can also rinse off the flower and re-use it. Or in my case, simply add more hot water to the pot once you've consumed all the tea!

**Best to be shared with others. I'm just greedy!

This post was in no way sponsored by t Leaf T. They are a great company though!
